For those who were not there when Phua Chu Kang came to Pastor Choon Meow’s farewell and was wondering what the story is all about, I will reproduce the script here for your entertainment.

PCK: Hey! Rosie, Rosie. You know ah? I heard ooh, a pastor from PJ Evangelical Free Church is coming to Singapore.

Rosie: Aiyah why are you so busy body?

PCK: Eh, you know we can get him to come here to pray for us so that PCK Pte Ltd will be the best in Singapore, JB and Batam Island

Rosie: Pray your head . You think don’t need to pay meh? My friend say ah, go to church also must pay. 10% of your salary leh.

PCK: He is from PJ Evangelical Free Church la. Free mah, no need to pay one lah.

Chu Beng: PJ Evangelical Free Church is the name of the church. Anyway he is not here to preach. He is coming here to study.

PCK: Wah, so old already still study ah?

Rosie: He come here to study. You think he will come and pray for your business eh?

PCK: We bribe him to come .

Rosie: He is a pastor. You think you can bribe him ah?

PCK: Don’t let God know that we bribe him lor.

Rosie: You think God is blind ah?

Margaret: I know what to do. We can offer him good food. Eating is not a bribe.

Chu Beng: Good idea Margaret. That’s why I marry you my dear wife.

Margaret: I can make my healthy organic salad for him.

Rosie: Oi! Oi! You think he is a cow or what. Only cow eat your green salad.

Margaret: Beng. Rosie says I am a cow. Beng…. Beng….

Rosie: Malaysia got so many good food like nasi lemak, Penang Char Kueh Teow, cheap seafood. You think he want to eat Singapore food ah?

PCK: Ar bah den… We have Ah Mah Ais Kacang. The best homemade Ais Kacang in Singapore. We also have the best Tau Huay and Tau Huay Chui. Don’t play play. Eh….. we only have two kinds of food in Singapore huh?

Chu Beng: Ha..ha. If he knows that, he would not want to come to Singapore to study.

Rosie: Hey, if he come ah, where is he going to stay?

Margaret: Hmm….hmmm. I am not involve in this OK?

Rosie: Just now you say you want to make your green salad for him.

Margaret: I just say I will make him salad, but I did not say I am going to offer up my room for him.

Chu Beng: He is not coming alone you know. He is coming with his wife and three children.

PCK: Eh.. his wife pretty ah?

Rosie: Chu Kang!

PCK: OK OK. Don’t need to ask him to come and pray lah. PCK Pte Ltd is already the best in Singapore, JB and Batam Island. Don’t play play. We will just welcome him to Singapore.

Sayonara Pastor Choon Meow

6th June 2010, the day we, DJ3CG decided to hold a farewell party for Pastor Choon Meow and family. They are leaving us at the end of this month for Singapore. Not that he loved Singapore more than he loved us. It was because he wanted to be more equipped to serve God. He will be pursuing his studies at Trinity Bible College in Singapore. And we can’t just let him go like that. He meant so much to each and everyone of us.

The evening started with a surprise. Phua Chu Kang and team came to PJ to welcome Pastor Choon Meow and family to Singapore. It was an evening filled with laughter when Phua Chu Kan appeared in his yellow boots and the distinctive mole on his face. The loud voice Rosie came in a flowery blouse.

Then the ever loving couple Chu Beng and Margaret joined in. As usual the war of words between Rosie and Margaret began with Rosie calling Margaret a cow.

And when Chu Kang asked Chu Beng whether Pastor Choon Meow’s wife is pretty, the jealous Rosie just got irritated.

Then when the show ended, Pastor Choon Meow and wife came in to make peace and calm down Rosie.

Of course, a party will never be complete without food, and we invited the Phua Chu Kang team to indulge in our Malaysian food. Sorry, forgot to take a picture of the delicious food we had

Our guest pianist on 25th September 2009 all the way from Australia to join our CG meeting in Petaling Jaya. Yvonne Lim has left us for Australia many years ago. But she still visits us as and when she is back here for holidays. How’s her piano playing? Play like a pro, that’s is how I describe her playing skills.

Fast & Pray gathering

7th August 2009, the last day of fast and pray for Daniel. For the past two weeks, all DJ3CG members have taken turn to fast and pray for Daniel. Each member fasted by skipping lunch to pray for miracle for Daniel. It was a sad picture to see how a young and energetic boy has succumbed to his illness and now lying helplessly in bed. Only a miracle can get him out of this condition. Where the doctors have given up hope, we know that God is in control and we have hope in our God.

We felt the bonding of the family of God in this situation. We don’t even know Daniel personally but God has brought us together to pray for him. God’s love has moved us to pray and to give generously to Daniel and his family to lighten their financial burden to meet the medical expenses.

We gathered at JJ’s house and we invited Pastor Soon Hock to join us in this fast and pray event. After some worship singing praises to God, we broke into smaller groups to pray for Daniel.

Men gathered in the living hall to pray,

whereas the ladies gathered in the kitchen and dining to pray.

After praying, we broke fast. Each one brought something and within minutes the whole dining table was full of food. Food glorious food.

Dear all,

Thank you for a good time of fellowship and planning at last Fri’s CG. It is always very comforting to know and feel the presence of God in times of trials and we are always very encouraged when we can come together as one body of Christ to fast and pray for one another.

To recap what was discussed last Fri :-

Peace for Daniel’s parents and family members.

Pray for sufficient grace to sustain them.
Financial support for the family.
Help and care for Daniel’s condition.

We will all end this intercession with a group fast and pray for dinner on Friday, 7th August. We will break fast together at Angie’s home after a time of worship and prayer.

It has also been agreed that we will all increase our sunshine fund contribution from RM10/pax to RM20/pax wef August 2009 so that we can continue to support the children’s ministry (RM100) and Pastor Camillo’s family (RM200) monthly.

As we come together to pray and seek God, we pray that we will all also draw closer to God and to each other. Please feel free to share with one another if there are any prompting or revelation during this time of fast and pray.

God is good to Jadon yet again

The lyrics of one of the songs in Hunchback Of Notre Dame cartoon says “Just another ordinary miracle”. Yes, may just be another ordinary miracle but it meant so much to me. It showed how good and true God is. It may just be an ordinary miracle but when I experienced it, it was definitely not ordinary to me.

Jadon my 2 year-old son was down with high fever on 8th July 2009 at about 12.00pm. Given him one dose of Paracetamol syrup and the fever subsided. But four hours later it came back but it was another hour to go before his next dose of the fever mixture. So sponging him was the only way to keep the fever down. After his second dose of fever mixture, the fever subsided again. Like the first time, it came back four hours later but with vengeance. This time it shot up to 39 degree Celsius. But we couldn’t give him his medicine because it was not time yet. So we sponged him again. The fever was so high that he was so tired, sleepy and shivering. While changing his clothes standing up, he collapsed, much like lost the strength of his legs and they gave way because he was too weak. I carried him and sat him on my lap and he asked “Where is papa?” even though his papa was holding him. Boy, that really scared me. Maybe he was confused because of the high fever. We gave him his third dose of fever mixture at 10pm.

The fever subsided about an hour later. I checked on him every hour with some sleep in between. The fever subsided completely, but my fear was that it would come back again after four hours. At 2am, I dare not sleep because it has been four hours and the fever may come back again. I prayed for him hoping that the fever will come back only after five hours so that he could take his fever mixture to control the temperature. Fifteen minutes past the 4 hours, no fever yet. Good. 45 minutes to go. I continued to pray. I was lost for words to say. Beside praying for God to take away the fever and rebuking the fever in Jesus’ name, I did not know what else to pray. So I decided to sing songs in my heart. I sang a few songs in my heart and repeat many times. Songs like “In the name of Jesus, we have the victory”, “There is power, wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb” and “Thank you, thank you Jesus”. I sang the songs believing that we have victory over the fever in the name of Jesus and by the power of the blood of the Lamb he is healed and thanking Jesus for the healing. In between songs, I said some prayer and rebuking the fever in the name of Jesus.

Half an hour past. Still no fever. I knew God has answered my prayer and the fever will come back only after 5 hours. Well that was what I hoped for anyway. 45 minutes past. No fever yet. One hour past. Totally no fever. That’s strange. The fever before this was so high and it was hard to believe that it would be gone completely so soon. Yes we have given him one dose of antibiotic prescribed by the doctor, but one dose would normally won’t be that effective to clear the fever. He has taken the same antibiotic before this and it took a few doses to clear the fever.

One hour later still no fever. I knew that this was not an ordinary event that happened some of the time. I knew that it was God’s hand behind all these. It may just seem to be an ordinary miracle to some, but I knew God was at work performing this out of ordinary miracle. What I hoped for was that the fever would come back after 5 hours but I got more than what I asked for. God is willing to bless us with more than what we can imagine. Remember the boy with five loaves and two fish?

The fever came back only at about 7.30am in the morning. And this time it was not high. We gave him another dose of fever mixture and he was completely well after that. God knew our fear that night and he held back the fever till morning and granted him a speedy recovery. Definitely not just an ordinary miracle.

The first ever Christmas Caroling

It is the time of the year again. The time of the year where you can hear Christmas carols being played at every corner you turn. People swarmed to the shopping complexes like bees being drawn to honeycomb. This is the time where gifts are being exchanged but minus the true meaning of giving.

In times like this, our DJ3CG decided to make a difference to bring the true meaning of giving, the gift of love. Joy to the world, a new King is born today, the angels sing. God has given us His Son, humble, born in a manger so that man may live forever more. To spread the true meaning of Christmas, DJ3CG has decided on our very first Christmas caroling. Bringing the good news that Christ is born to 4 families.

We gathered at our CG leader’s house at 7.45pm on 22nd December 2008. The children were excited as this would be the first time they went caroling. After a short briefing, we set out to our first house which belongs to Juat Heng and family. We were quite nervous as we had only practised twice for the past two weeks. Anyway we sang our hearts out, said a prayer for the family and read a Christmas message from the bible. The verdict – we passed with flying colours I think Anyway Juat gave us some constructive criticism and that has helped us improved our singing at the next three houses.

From Damansara Utama, we went to Pastor Siew Woh’s house in Damansara Jaya. With smiling face, we were greeted. We sang, said a prayer and a Christmas message, we left but not before recruiting Pastor and his wife to join us.

From there we went to Yew Lai’s house just across the road, we were given a warm welcome and again we sang. I think we got better from one house to another. Again we did not let the opportunity pass us by. Yew Lai ended up following us to the next and final house.

It was already about 10pm at night when we reached our final destination but no one was complaining. Everyone enjoyed the caroling so much so that time did not matter anymore. Our final destination was the highlight of the day. The host Angie and JJ Lim had promised to throw us a feast and a feast it was indeed. We sang with all our might knowing that great food was waiting for us. For the grand finale, we sang an additional verse of the song “We wish you a merry Christmas” that went like this, “we won’t go until we get some” Yes we got more than just “some” . I have yet to receive the photos. Will upload them when I get them. Look at the way we eat. I am sure you will agree that the food was not good. It was fantastic!

This will definitely not be the first and our last caroling. You bet we will make it a better one next year. Want to invite us to your home next year?
